TN guns of the 1800-15 era often looked a lot like SW VA guns as that's where a lot of those smiths came from. John Bull's style started out very VA/MD influenced and appears to have settled on his later characteristic Southern Mtn. style by the 1820's or slightly before he moved from TN to MS. If you're talking the standard Bean/Lawing type hardware, probably 1830's or 40's onward.
