There should be enough room for a screw...just not a super long screw. really all dependent on where the ramrod hole is. Drill a small hole in the barrel channel there and check it with a feeler gauge. I just use a bit of wire with a tiny right angle bend on the end. Put the wire in til it hits the bottom of the ramrod hole. Lay a straight edge over the top of the stock at a right angle and slide the straight edge up to the wire and mark it. then mark that depth on the outside of your stock and you'll know how much wood you have below the RR hole .

That is if you want to use screws. Pins work just fine too. The tabs for pins will need come cutting and filing.
