I lost a childhood friend a couple months ago,I had sold him my second muzzleloader I built from a kit, solid tack driver, but I was moving into the more historicly correct direction so I sold it to him as he just wanted a muzzleloader for deer hunting. I don't think he ever fired that TC Hawken 54 and I would ask him if he would like to sell it back, well years went by and it hung on the wall of his parents.I was contacted by a friend of the family today to see if I would like to buy it back, long story short I have the rifle back but I won't ever be able to shoot it without thinking of my old friend.

That's a very touching story my friend and I'm sorry for your loss! When you get around to shooting it, Shoot every ball in his honor!

This story reminds me of another story that I read, which was about another member who lost his friend and through trial and error ended up with his friends rifle.

It's a must read!

I know exactly where you are coming from. In the early eighties I sold my swivel breech to a friend since I needed cash for the family. A few years back he gave it to me as a gift since he had terminal cancer and I was about the only one who stopped to help him. :idunno: :idunno:

Some years ago an old friend gave me a fly rod shortly before he pegged out. It's not a bad thing to have an old friend's favorite casting tool in hand on a stream. Ought to be comfortable with a firearm, as well. graybeard

Well life is strange,a friend of many years is giving me his caywood now,He always said I was in his will but no longer shoots and wants me to have it now,Going to have to pay it forward someday and man someone is going to get a collection :applause:

Well, I took posesstion of the TC Hawken today, I dont think he ever cleaned it.I dumped old fow!ing out of it and cleaned the rust out havent scoped the bore yet but it feels pretty smooth.guess he were fibbin whenever I asked him if he was keeping it clean :surrender:

Bittersweet! Lose 1 old friend, and recover another! Sorry for your loss.

I lost one of my good friends a couple of years ago. Have no personal remembrance of him. Wish I did. I have two good friends who I have gone to gun shows with since the mid '70's. My will gives each of them one gun of their choice from my collection. My plan is to outlive them both but who knows how that will work?
