Fantastic rifles all! Everyone should own at least one flintlock Long Rifle. It's satisfying and reassuring to be able to fire your rifle with flint, powder and ball and not have to depend on something like a cap that you can't make. You can make black powder, nap flints and lead is easy enough to obtain just about anywhere from wheel weights to fishing weights if need be. You can even re harden your frizzen using charcoal or even the old fashioned way by wrapping leather around it and then bailing wire to hold that on tightly then placing the whole thing within a tin can, crush the ends and stick into the hot coals of a wood fire for a time before pulling it out and dropping it in water. Works for me. The flintlock Long Rifle is like a fine tuned machine that seems to be the highest form of self sufficiency and practicality in the firearms world. All other firearms will become useless when the factory ammunition and components are no longer available. The Flintlock Long Rifle will still be able to provide food and protection. It's not the highest technological form of firearm, but like the sword, ax and knife, it endures and can be relied upon for centuries to come.
