What would be the best .36 c&b revolver to purchase?
I have used ROAs in the past.

Wait, they made ROA's in .36cal?

I would suspect a Uberti made Remington Navy maybe?

I would suggest going with the Colt Navy 51 by Uberti. They balance really well, point naturally and just look good. You'll probably want one for your collection sooner or later anyway. So why not start there? Next you'll want a 61, then a 60 (the 60 is a 44) and so on and so on...

If you like the Colt style the absolute best deal right now is the engraved Hickok 1851 that Cabela's has on sale for $249. These are all 2010 production with the CF proof codes so they are after Pietta's upgrade of their production in late 2009. Seriously they are the best most problem free percussion revolvers I have ever seen. I was so impressed with the first two I bought that I bought a third. Haven't had a chance to get to Cabela's to check out the others in the new production to see if they are as good.
I'm a long time Uberti fan but these are good enough to make you want to throw rocks at Uberti. Not only are they fit and finished well but all three shot to point of aim right out of the box.

I have heard high praise for the 1861 colt navy. Not sure if it was Uberti or Pietta or both but that that model was extremely accurate for a Colt.

I agree. They also make 3 different ones, the round brass trigger guard, Square back trigger guard and the London Model with all steel frame.

I have had my eye on a square back trigger guard for a while.

If I were to get one I would buy a .36 Remington. If I wanted to be cost conscious it would be a Pietta from Cabela's because it has a track record of very solid performace. But if money wasn't as much of a concern I would seriously consider buying a stainless steel Euroarms .36 model from S&S Firearms.

What is so special about the CF proof marks. I have a 12 gauge double barrell shotgun from Pietta I have never has any trouble with it

We were discussing revolvers. Pietta in late 2009 upgraded their revolvers and got rid of some of the annoying problems. CF proof marks indicate 2010 production.
