Six Gun. This whole deal was a prep for the Hawken kit I ordered. Numerous folks recommended such a warmup, and I cannot thank them enough.

The barrel is in keeping with the overall quality of this kit. All good ideas for a piece worth the expense, just not this one.
 
Put it away for a future project as you will eventually want to learn how to do those things.
Lapping is something that will have to be done to many rifle barrels. Crowing the muzzle of a barrel is necessary after damaging it with a cleaning rod for too long.

Coning, is rare these days but was more common in the distant past.
 
Sixgun, why don't you use a bore protector to not damage the muzzle?
I do, but I buy used rifles to cut costs as most repairs are simple. I have purchased kit guns that were done poorly, I take them apart and make them right. That entry level new guns are about $500 these days, I like to keep costs down.
