Here is #7 from my bench.

15 in. around the curve
2 3/4 in. base plug of pine
antler applied tip
horn spout plug
silver staple
finished with aqua fortis

The staple is driven in to an undersize hole and since I could only reach one leg of the staple to bend it over the other leg is epoxied.
 
:hatsoff: Nice horn! I like the antler tip. Is it a screw tip?

One of the Honorable Company of Horners told me that original horns did not use the twisted staple, as it produced edges that eventually cut a strap. He showed me about 50 original horns that evening, and not a single one had a twisted staple.

I like the look of yours immensely, so please don't take it as a criticism. It's far better than I can do, as you can see from the one in progress I posted the other day. I just heard this recently from an expert source, so I wanted to pass it on.

Colmoultrie, no problem I am always learning. I have seen a lot of pictures of horns with twisted staples but, info seems to change on a regular basis so I'm not discounting anything. I'm sure not an expert by any stretch :idunno:
