To all that sent me e-mails and responded about my Little Smoothbore, thanks. I got the chance to shoot it today and it performed well. 30 grians of 3F, a thin card, 3 wonder wads, one once of shot, and another thin card. Saturday I'm trying it out on squirrels.

Thanks to all,

Casey.

P.S. Now I'm looking to trade for a Brown Bess, because it has to be fun with a bigger bore!!!!

wow that seems like a lot of shot for only 30 grains..... would it not shoot well with less shot? im new to this smoothie stuff myself, thats why im askin :)

Another thing to remember is the smaller the bore, the longer the shot column will be in the barrel when using the same ounce of shot...

So, a small bore using 1 ounce of shot will have a greater bearing surface area that the larger bore...

This means more resistance and more felt recoil...

Wow, I agree with musketman , I also shoot a smoothie (20 ga) and , I think ya might wanna drop that shot amount by about half , see if your pattern , and , recoil don't improve , remember the more resistance ,the more recoil ,the more gas pressure in the barrel , in such a small cal. , be wary of this.

I tried half the amount but it didn't produce a good shot pattern. I dropped it back to seven eights and it seems to do fine also. Half the amount of shot seemed to blow the pattern out. Never really felt that much recoil, and thanks for the advice. Don't want to damage the little shotgun, because it's a blast to shoot. Never got to shoot it today only saw one squirrel.

Thanks.

Casey

Now how about trying out a .375 (.36 revolver) PRB? :winking: You may need to use a mallet with a short starter before ramming it home but if it's tight like my 28 guage (modified choke), it may shoot great out to 25 yards. You shouldn't need much powder either. ::
