At my club shoot on Saturday I had an oddball occurrence. After the smoke cleared from one of my shots, I saw the 40 caliber hole was a few inches outside of the scoring rings. I hadn't called the shot near there, so was a bit perplexed. When I looked again, it seemed that the hole was even FURTHER from the scoring rings. So I blinked a few times to clear my vision a bit and looked again. The darned hole was even further from the scoring rings! :idunno:
So I went to my spotting scope to figure out if my vision was so bad that my shooting days were over. It turns out that my moving bullet hole was actually a house fly walking across my target! Not only do I get to continue shooting, but my vision is actually good enough to see a fly at 25 yards.

Dang Trent, that's not how "hitting a fly in the eye at 100 yards" really works! :rotf:

Gone are the days I could visually follow a house fly at 25 yards.

Maybe one of them big nasty horse flys. We used to get 1" black ones on Seneca Lake that took a chunk of flesh out right through your shirt between the shoulder blades.

That's another reason I like shooting the smoothbore with one ounce 0.648" balls. I can see where they are hitting even at 50 yards. ;-)

Shoot the fly, Grasshopper, and the hole and the fly will become one.
