And I couldn't be happier!
The past few years the regs said we could only hunt a four point buck or bigger during the muzzle loader season.
I just looked at the regs for this years muzzle loader hunt this fall for my area and it is ANY DEER!

Yes, I am doing the happy dance. October is too far off!

The fellas who hunt modern guns have the limit of any buck.
Bet there are a number of new muzzle loading hunters in the area this year.

Good for you! Hopefully, the "new" muzzle loading hunters will not choose the "unmentionables"....

Here's a chance to school some of the hunters!
Flint

well here in this state they have some limitations on the unmentionables that make it so you might as well just get traditional rifle
Getting an unmentionable that meets the regs is a PITA.
This is the exact reason I bought traditional style muzzle loaders when I decided to hunt.

Well I am hoping for a nice fat doe, but if I come across a deer and it is in range with a good shot available I am taking it. I am not making the mistake my neighbor makes. He gets a good legal deer in his sights but gets to thinking a better, bigger buck might be right behind it and he passes...
He has done that 2 times in the last 3 years and every time he does it, it bites him in the ***.

A spike buck would be nice for the antlers. But a fatted doe would be even nicer for the freezer.

I have a good one for antler soup. One quart any cheap whiskey, half pint of water, one set of antlers in large bowl, let set 10 min. throw out antlers and drink the broth. :rotf:
On the trail when you are going lite thats good. At home you can serve this mixed with coffee called a 'black hunter' or night hunter. You can make a cream of antler broth ad drink it on its own, called a 'white hunter',use all cream then its a 'great white hunter or mix the cream of antler broth with coffee called n irish hunter.

Good luck on the deer, a good fat Doe eats very nice! Back Straps marinated in a good Olive Oil dressing or some Moe's Marinade is good baked in the Oven at around 350 degrees for about an hour with an Onion or 2 an some cut up Potatoes, make a gravy from the broth  .

Before you do your happy dance check with the wildlife and parks make sure the buck still doesn't have to be 4 points or more.
Would hate to see you get a fine.

Starting sunrise tomorrow morning until the 11th.
Hope I am not dealing with fibromyalgia tomorrow. Last year I missed a number of days due to pain.

I got my possibles bag pared down to hunting essentials. I got my butchering stuff at the bottom of the bag and the rifle is serviced, functional and on target.

Wish me luck.
