I was thinking of ordering a parts kit from the rifle shoppe but had a bad experience with them in the past. I remember alot of complaints on the forum about them too. Anyone dealt with them recently? Has service improved? Whats the wait like? Thanks.

I have no complaints with the Rifle Shoppe. Yes they can be a little slow at times but they are not Walmart. They do their best to keep as much inventory on has as they can but anyone in business knows it a balancing act between what is best for the customer with what is best for the business itself. Look at their catalog and amount of different products they sell then look at most other company selling muzzle loading gun parts. They are very specialized and do their best. Whenever I have had a problem they go out of they way to satisfy me. No Complaints. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day.

I agree, my dealings with them have been 100% positive BUT do be aware that all that I have ordered has been in stock at the time of the order and I did talk to a live human being before ordering. That being said, things can be slowed up, the fact that I orderd a breachplug that had to have it's cast threads cleaned up by hand probably added a week to the turn around time after they received payment, but that was not a problem. The parts that I received were excelent castings and cleaned up very well into highly accurate parts.

Personaly, I'd give Track of the Wolf a try first. I've had better luck with them, and I've always got my order within 8 days.

10 years ago I ordered a complete set 1728 French musket parts from them. It took over 8 months to get them, and then they still sent a few wrong parts.
Last year I ordered a few wall gun parts from them, and I had them in 2 weeks! I think, like any company, they had issues to work out, and they did. I would use them again, just be realistic in the time frame that you want to build and get your parts in. I think they even state that in their catalog.
