I'd rather not take the risk.
No I don't use regular wads, only leather or card disks.
Its very hard to get ANY blackpowder here. I was lucky enough to be given 3.5kg of 2f a few years ago,so that's what I'm using. It does fine for 90% of what I do
The only other option then is increase the pellet count by dropping a size or two. Or just leave be.
It funny actually.
One of my guns fairs bad with #4 shot. I don't use it in it. But #5,#6or #7 it's fine!

My choked 10g has taken two geese this season past 40 yds with #3 TM. 2oz on 90gns of close to 4f powder.

I think I'll stick with what I'm using. I've tried using 7½ shot for starlings and wattlebirds and found it kills them poorly if at all. I might give size 6 shot a try soon.

Well folks the test is complete.
I got me a rabbit finally.

I'm afraid ultimately it is a fail!
To many miss fires. This once very reliable lock is just not the same. Hence forth I am going to source a new spring.
It was a fun exercise all the same.

Geez,I don't even bother trying to keep my feet dry these days. Years of pruning in the vineyard taught me but one thing....you just can't stay dry when its wet without sacrificing something else, usually comfort and mobility. Just my opinion of course lol

Well yes and no. I should of suspended the sring in water to stop the heat transfer. As it was the vee collapsed reducing its overall V. So I had to open it up and fit shim in the V to keep it wide enough to put adequate pre load on the tumbler. I honestly am not very impressed with Pedersoli springs. They are not drawn back enough and not polished enough.

My pal Mick went through FIVE Pedersoli mainsprings for his Kuechenreuter target pistol - at that time their very top model. Each one was almost impossible to cock, they were so stiff that it literally took both hands - and he is a bricklayer - then they snapped.

The very first one we got from capandball's store in Budapest not only fitted perfectly, but has been installed ever since- maybe ten years now, and it is a firm action on cocking.

I wonder if another lock could be retrofit into your stock? May be a one time project as opposed to ongoing spring replacement. Possibly an L&R replacement lock if the make one for that?

Yikes!!!!!! Thats $101.46!!!!! Must be a titanium alloy forged in the weightless environement of space! There has got to be better options. I'd have another go at re-tempering the welded up spring.
Robby
As it happens it was not sparking when I got home. So I pulled the spring, increased the shim thickness, rebuilt it, same flint, noted the slightly extra weight and it started sparking again!
I guess I've got to continue with another test. Drat 🙂

Oh you poor thing lol.

You should pattern any shotgun , not so much to see if there donut holes in the pattern ( when the barrel is moving that will all be different ) but where the gun is patterning , above point of aim , left, right, below , I like my trade gun to pattern 55% above and 45% below the point of aim at 25 yards , there is not much point shooting rabbits if you dont know where the load you are using shoots on at whatever distance you shoot rabbits at.
