The Johnny sharpshooters were dropping the yanks like flies in Nashville , TN with the Whitworth rifles. The battles of Spring Hill, Thompson Station , and Franklin, TN also saw heavy use of the Whitworth. The Whitworth evened the odds somewhat in the latter years of the war. The yanks had us outgunned with the spencers, breechloaders, and more advanded cannon. Just could not get enough to make a marked difference.
