In a couple of weeks I will be in Indianapolis for work and then I have 2.5 days to get to Butner NC for the week to shoot in the LRML world matches.

I have 2.5 days to do a 10 hour drive. Looking for suggestions on things to see in do along the route.

Thanks

I have certainly taken a tour of their bottles on more than one occasion. Just last week in CN fishing in fact.

What used to be The Frazier Arms Museum is across the street from Louisville (which has been sold by the way). The International History Museum used to be the US branch of The Armouries in England. This site has moved to a more general and local history museum than arms-related but may still be worth your while.

The Zoo there is first class.

Isn't Fort Knox Tank Museum down the road, sorta!?

The tank museum is no more. They moved it to another base a few years back. We went down for a visit a few days after they moved the last ranks away. All that was left was a few tracks in the grass.

Mammoth Cave - saltpeter works from the war of 1812 are still in place.

Makers Mark Distillery - a good tour and the only place to buy the green wax Makers (think instant mint julep).

Kentucky Horse Park - everything horsey.

+1 for Mammoth Cave N.P. near Bowling Green. They offer several guided tours of different lengths and varying degrees of "difficulty" although none of the guided tours are truly difficult. The "Historic Tour" is relatively brief, easy and includes the works that remained in the cave after the extraction of saltpetre from bat guano had been terminated. Even if you have to go out of your way..it's worth at least an extra day while you're anywhere near the area.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I leave on Tuesday.

got most of the locations loaded into the GPS and ready to go.
