Think I finally made peace with my 60 Army clone.

This spring, in a LGS, I found an ASM steel frame 60 Army Sherriff that looked unfired for less that $200. First time to the range it swallowed a cap and mushroomed the top of the trigger. I tried reshaping the trigger and hammer notches and thought it was fixed. Next range session the trigger mushroomed again on the second cylinder, with no obvious explanation other than maybe soft steel. I ordered a new hammer and two triggers from Deer Creek, just in case.

Finally got to the range today. At 50' it's shooing almost a foot high, not totally unexpected. It's also shooting slightly left, about 2". I think I can correct that to a useable POI with a little careful filing. Once I got the feel for the pistol I was consistently getting groups of 3 1/2" or less. Not bad for me and frankly much better than the people on either side of me with modern firearm. I fired 10 cylinders before I could feel the cycling starting to get a little stiff and as I didn't have cleaning supplies with me packed it in for the day. I was shooting .454 RB, 30 gns of FFFG and Remington #10 caps. No lube other than a touch of Bore Butter on the arbor.
