TN.Frank said:Most of my hunting(when I get to go) is small game like rabbits, squirrels and dove and "large" game would be Turkey and Deer. Shots at deer where I hunt generally are around the 50 yrd. range so a good smoothbore with a proper round ball and patch should work fine. What do ya'll think? Is anyone else all smoothbore out there, if so how does it work out for ya'?
I'd say that you've already gotten a lot of responses that indicate selling off rifles to buy a better smoothie is not the preferred route to travel.
That said, I once, many years ago, had a similar idea as you. I thought I'd get rid of my rifles and go for a very high quality smoothbore--as most of my hunting/shooting was within 50-60 yds max. WEll... needless to say, things changed... I also regretted the sale of a couple of my irreplaceable (or at least difficult to find) rifles. I also later sold off that smoothbore to get back into muzzleloading rifle shooting. Things seem to go full circle sometimes. I will say though, that it did greatly simplify my supplies and that wasn't a bad thing.
I wish you the best on whatever you choose to do. Sometimes we have to have the actual personal experience under our belt to really understand.
Regards, and shoot safely,
