Hard to believe it's been 6 years. Great guy and patient teacher. Such a loss...

It seems like yesterday.Mike lived in my neck of the woods and I talked to him a lot at the local rondys. What a super nice guy, would talk to anybody for hours about history and forging. He lived simple and was a very generous man.

I use some of his arrow trade points when I do my living history archery demo. I'm also fortunate to own one of his pocket knives and some fire steels.
A great guy and a true craftsman, gone on but truly not forgotten...

Wish I'd gotten one of those pipes, glad I have one of his folding knives with the sheet iron handle and a couple fire steels. While doing a living history demo last September someone walked off with the trade points that I'd gotten from Mike. I'm still mad about that...

I think of Mike every time I use the beautiful Burgundian fire steel he made for me. I didn't realize how long he has been gone. Time slips past us all I guess.

Mike was a great help to me and our scout troop. He took us through every step of the process in making fire steels for the boys, all done via electronic correspondence every step of the way. Though I never got to meet him in person, I felt like I really knew the man as a friend. Really nice man.
