I used Irish Spring for years hanging from the garden fence to keep deer away. Did a good job.

I tried that, bought a whole case, had zero affect on the deer. Had one even bite it.

Ya, it is extremely hard on your skin. Must be made from the cheapest possible ingredients, because I bought a whole case for the price of 2 bars of my usual soap.
