I had my Harpers Ferry pistol kit almost done. I had just finished staining, and true oiling the wood, and had it all put together. Oh wait, I forgot the barrel wedge. When I tapped it in it was kinda tight. I tapped it in further, and POW! split the wood and a chip went flying!?.. :cursing:

Back to the drawing board! I had to sand the chip down and gorilla glue it back in. Sanded the area down. Now back to staining and true oiling again. It looks better, but it's going to need alot more true oil. I never thought of checking the alignment on the wedge hole. I guess it's a learning lesson for the next build.. :surrender:

GunHo,
I feel your pain. Most of us, I believe, have been there, done that. But, I bet when you're done replacing the chip, it will hardly be noticable.
