Yep, do whatever floats your boat. In my case the only shiny thing I like on my gun is the bore.

If looking to sell it then i'd polish it all over. If it's a keeper then I'd leave it as is. I used to polish my hawken every few years. Then I decided i liked the age patina better. Haven't polished it in 30 years.

I told my son at age 11 never to polish the brass on the rifle I built him. He's 55 now and never did.
