I recently purchased several ML barrels at an auction. One is a Thompson Center .50 cal. barrel and the other is 1/2 octagon and 1/2 round. It is smooth bore and measures .62 inside diameter. Both will fit the same rifle. There are no markings on the smooth bore. Can anyone tell me who makes the smooth bore and which TC they will fit? I appreciate any help. Thanks.

there was a Spanish company that made smoothbore barrels for T/C guns in 1/2 round, 1/2 octagon such as you describe. Toledo something-or-other was the outfit.

what they'll fit depends on if they are 15/16ths or 1in across the flats. one inch would fit Renegades or 54cal Hawken stocks. 15/16ths would 45 or 50 cal Hawken, White Mountain Carbine, or Pennsylvania Hunter stocks.

Not sure who made them, but the half octo. and half round was on a White Mountain carbine. Good little gun for the mountains in thick cover as it was shorter.

Yes I have a Toledo 15/16" but in 12ga w/extra full choke for my TC hawkens.

They say 12ga is too big for 15/16 but barrel came with all the proof paperwork

I don't think I'd want to be shooting a black powder 12 guage barrel that only had .104 thick walls** in the area of the breech.

Might get away with it if the barrel was made from fully heat treated chrome moly steel but if it was made from a low carbon steel like almost all muzzleloader barrels are, I think that combination is asking to be maimed or killed. :(

**
15/16 = .9375 inches
12 guage = .729 inches
.9375 - .729 = .2085
Wall = .2085/2 = .10425
