I'm a new member of this site and a new owner of my first flintlock, a T/C Hawken 45 cal. It's a used gun but in excellent condition. Well the lockset was an 'old style' and T/C had upgraded that assy since that rifle was built. I sent it back a WEEK AGO and they sent a completely new lock assy back to me....FREE OF CHARGE in ONE WEEK. :D

They could have just replaced the parts and upgraded the existing one but they chose to replace it. And this...right before ML opener.

Great customer service! Even got a free flint and leather for it too. (It's the details you know)

consistent with everything i've heard about T/C service... who needs some damnedfool fortune500 seminar, just call these folks to see the sort of business practices which have made american manufacturing preeminent (sp?) in the world. our departure from this level of customer service will spell the demise of the cachet "Made in the USA"

thus endeth the tirade...

glad the guy is making smoke- i'll go out and do the same

Thompson Center service and warranty is second to none. I had an T/C Hawken Flintlock with the old style lock; I returned to lock explaining that it was unreliable and ate flints....they sent me a new improved lock via fed-ex, no charge. You just can't beat that type of customer service. 100% made in the USA, all walnut, steel and brass with a lifetime warranty...you just can't lose with a T/C Hawken...And they shoot great.

and they even look good in maple.........bob

I've dealt with T/C customer service a few times in the past and none of that surprises me. They always go the extra mile for the customer.

I like their business model. Listen to what the customers want and make a good, affordable gun, then support it 100%.

if only they would listen to us and bring back a few out of production tradional rifles. everybody and their brother makes those infernal plastic realtree pellet burning sewerpipes. how about us walnut and steel lovers? i done ranting! T/C is a great company, ranks right up there with Ruger and Rcbs.

Walrus,

I agree with you. The Seneca/Cherokee was a great little gun.

It is my favorite T/C of all

I give T/C my best regards also. I got my flintlock back this week, also, having been gone a week. Old style lock replaced with complete new lock.
One question, though. My old lock bolt will not thread into the new lock. Have they changed the thread pitch, or could the threads be possibly damaged? I just have not had time to find a thread gauge to check things out.
Thanks
Rod

Most excellent in this day and nice to hear a company that stands by a product :) !

Walrus, I'm with you there. I don't know why they didn't start production up again after the fire. There's obviously enough market for traditional guns to support a number of factory and custom makers. T/C would always have a large market share just because they're T/C.

CrackStock, the Seneca has turned out to be my favorite too. Looking forward to adding the Cherokee to the collection some day.

Rod, I had no trouble with mine. The old bolt threaded right in....unless I 'over-manned' it and didn't notice.

TC has replaced several of my older locks and I never had a thread problem...maybe it's a slight misalignment problem on the new lock...with the lock out of the stock, and laying on a workbench, see if you can get the lock bolt to start that way...from both sides of the sideplate (go to full cock to try it from the outside but be careful not to trip the sear)...or it might be something as simple as a burr in the threaded seat

Thanks for the idea Roundball. I had to remove the cock, but threading the bolt from the outside must have cleaned up a small bur in the threads.
Rod
