TC Hawken 50 cal. for sale
I ended up with this in a trade. I took it to the range and set up at 50 yards. The starting charge was 45 grains of 3fg Goex. The sights were off for me and I started cranking them around. The second target was using 55 grains and the third was using 65 grains. I was using a .490 RB & pocket drill cloth (0.017”). Patch lube was a mix of 1/8 part Ballistol 7/8 parts distilled water.
For my 77 year old eyes the 55-65 grains were doing well, she is a shooter!
It needed some spit shining to show its true self. I removed all the brass and polished it up. The finish was a little thin in some areas so I wiped it down with alcohol and then gave it a light going over with 000 steel wool. The stock was then sprayed with two light coats of finish. It ended up looking really good.
The bad, it has some small dings in the wood, nothing serious. There is also a small chip of wood out at the toe of the stock where it meets the buttplate. There are no cracks in the wood.
Just ahead of the nipple snail on the oblique flat of the barrel are some small ripples where something rubbed/impacted the metal and I touched it up with Oxphoblue. Look at the pictures.
The bore is nice and shiny, there are some light shadows near the muzzle but nothing that will effect accuracy.
I will ship this in a hard case to the lower 48 for $450.
Thanks for looking, Barry
