Nice old Thompson. I picked this up at a shop in the mountains of North Carolina. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the shop or town. Want to go back though. This was someones hunting rifle. When I got it, it had a nice hand made sling and a musket nipple on it. Bore is in good shape, not perfect but very good in my opinion. It does have some bumps from the hunting. You can see some light scratches on the barrel just forward of the sling swivel. I think this was a rifle someone was proud of and took care while using it for it's intended purpose. Take note of the strong case coloring on the lock and hammer as an example of that.

That's funny didn't realize they are all the same. I grew up in NH and used to camp in Rochester, so we all had TCs growing up. I have only actually owned two though I think. Both were coincidentally 1 in 48 lol.

White mountain carbines in 45 & 50 had a faster twist, Penn hunters and some custom shop barrels had roundball twists. The 32 & 36 had their own twist. Other than that all TC’s from 45 to 58 cal had 1 in 48

That's a gorgeous hunk of steel and wood! I'd have been all over that had I not purchased a lovely T/C New Englander.
