Thoughts on a Cooey barrel

Get to make a new breechplug. Figured i`d time it again to close the gap at the tang and barrel, and snapped the weld. Going to try again later with a wider topped tang. Will probably make more sense that way as it will be easier to match up with the centre line being that it`s a round barrel, and the weld will be stronger as i wont have to grind so much away.

new plug made and fitted. I can live with the tiny gap at the tang. The steel came from the remains of a wheelbarrow i found in the bush behind my house. No idea how long it was there, but the rubber had rotted off the tire rim.
the tang needs a tweaking with a file to straighten it out, then i`ll be in letting the tang.

The the lock plate and tumbler inlet, the rest of the innards should be done some time this week maybe. My Dad passed today, will be flying to Saskatchewan on Saturday for the funeral. He was 81. Will have to pass some time before then. Hope to get a few pictures up before then

Here’s an update.
trigger is in and works. Pinned thru the wood. It is a bit heavy on the pull, but not terrible like my Ardessa. Needs a bit of shortening and a curly-q at the end. May even have to make a new one after the wood is shaped under the lock. Live and learn, and i`ll be able to use it on another project maybe, if thats the case. Steel came from an old wheel barrow i found in the woods behind my house. Lock is inlet. It is sitting proud a bit at the tail, the middle lock bolt is not in, and may be relocated to the end of the tail. I mis measured and as the breech plug is so small, a hole will quite likely comprimise strength when removing the plug. Having the second bolt will pull the plate into the inlet. I also set it about 1/16 to high, the bottom of the pan in at the centreline of the barrel. Will deepen the pan a little.
ramrod hole is not yet drilled, nor is the groove cut yet.

Need some 3/16 rod to extend a drill bit. Will a brad point wander less than a normal wood bit?
when that is done i`ll be adding brass underlugs for pinning soldered on.
