Could never get my rifle to fire consistently...I followed Roundball's advise and got ahold of some real BlackPowder...After going to the range this morning I found that there is nothing better!!
Disposed of the Triple Seven after I got home. Ignition time is amazing. If there is anyone having troubles with ignition and you are using anything other than real BP-get some of the real stuff.

PS: Hill's Inc. in Raleigh Sells GOEX..

:applause: Congratulations that's your first & second step in our twelve step program to clear your body of foul BP imitations. Your fourth step is to use that can of Goex and then buy more---after your twelfth can you will be detoxified, sanitized, coordinized and organated---you will then be a recovering 777 user. :rotf: :hatsoff:

Congrats on being a convert  . Nothing like it  . Now take that 777 and make a sky rocket :rotf: .

I won a lb of 777 as a doorprize, so last July 4th, I poured it in a pile and touched it off on the ground, nice fireball !
Thanks Hodgdon.

well, Neely, i've heard tell that that's about all it's good for.

as regards BP vs 'substitute' powders; if it ain't broke, don't tinker with it. if you want smokeless, get your centerfire stuff out and have a good time- there's nothing wrong with that. But don't pretend to shoot a ML and then not use the powder that the piece was supposed to use (i.e. don't pretend to be something you're not).

we welcome all sinners back into the fold. those substitute shooters need only repent their past transgressions and return to the path of truth, justice and the real American blackpowder way...

(i know- don't quit your day job)

Good idea about the skyrocket-can't use it in my centerfire reloading anyway. Plus the neighbors are used to loud noises around my place...they don't even call the cops anymore. :winking:

I'm also in Raleigh...in the past it seems like Hill's charges suggested retail price PLUS 10% for everything he sells...can't imagine what a lb of Goex must have cost there...$20?

I always order by the case...delivered price last summer was $10.90 /lb...if you're interested in splitting a case some day just let me know.

I never got it to work in a flint unless I put 15gs of BP in first, but didnt know at the time flint wouldnt set it off,so now its in the caplocks only if at all ( 2 of the rifles and 2 of the cap+balls shoot a bunch better with it and the power is :shocked2: . Raleigh is a great place I lived in Durham (dad taught at Duke) got some really nice woods, rivers in NC. FRED :hatsoff:

Well, I couldn't cobble a rocket together that fast, so I just showed my wife how much smoke a bottle of 777 will generate. :haha:

Then I saw the neighbors actually looking at my place...that was funny!! Looked like a shuttle test!!

Fortunately they are used to this kind of behavior and didn't call 911. I bet they think I've got a teenager.

I had some 777 on hand when I got my flintlock. It was fire 1 missfire 1.After coming back to this forum and reading up I ordered BP.Sine I got it I have shot the gun 20 times with only 1 misfire and I think this one was my fault.Over the weekend I was finally able to shoot my new BP 12 guage.Loaded with 777 I had one missfire with it.I have now decided the 777 will only be used with my pistol until gone and then never to return.
