This is the first thrower I have made. The blade is ¼"thick 4140 hardened to 46 Rc. The leather scales are held in place with steel sex bolts that I black oxided. I found the bolts at Fort Fredrick this past weekend. This is also the first time I tried ageing a blade. I rubbed it down with some gray poupon, wrapped it in syran wrap for about 18 hours. I washed it off, wrapped it in paper towels and soaked it in clorox for 2½ hours. Then lightly steel wooled the blade with some lite oil, and here is how she turned out.
