Well, this noon I mentioned I needed to either beat up some iron or go kick the cat. You would have thought I had talked about kicking babies down mainstreet! So I just beat up some iron. I needed to hammer up a couple small 1700's shovels. Here's what I ended up with. These have the front and back parts riveted together.
But the cat still does need kicking. Just don't ever/never/ever mention doing it!

p.s. And one of these days I need to make a shovel head, and then ... convert ... it into a frypan - like that original in Collector's Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution.
