Good morning. Does anyone else use castoff dental tools? My dentist gives these away when they can no longer be re-tipped. Very handy for certain types of fine work, like wire inlays etc.

I've got a couple that I've used for many years .... at one time, vendors would sell them cheaply at gun shows (maybe they still do, but I haven't been to a show in several years). They are handy for cleaning hard to reach places, etc

Another thing........My dentist bought a flint rifle from me I assembled from a kit. He took the gun to his dental office , and decorated it w/all kinds of silver amalgam designs 🤣 , and next appt. I had with him , he brought his treasured flintlock decorated rifle for me to see. I had to hide my amusement , until I left the appointment. He took his fine tip dental drill and made design enhancements over the surface of the stock , and filled them with silver amalgam . I asked him about the drill bits and burrs he used , and he handed me a coffee cup full of bits he said were too dull for tooth enamel. Fourty five yrs. later , I still use his "dull" bits in my Dremel tools. They work great on wood , brass , steel , most anything softer than teeth.
