I have yet another set of Slixshots to install on yet another cap and ball revolver -- an Uberti 1860 -- and much as I love their performance they stick out like the farbs they are. Anyone have an idea on blackening or at least darkening these things without heating them to point of affecting their temper?

What he said! I shyed away from slixshot for a while because I liked the original black, after one cycle they be black, after a couple hundred shots they tend to stay dark. As the say in Joisey, Fuggedaboudit.

Beechwood Casey bluing WILL darken stainless "some". Depends on what type of SS it is as to the color you get. All you can do is try it and see for yourself. I've done some SS and got down to a dark grey. ;)

“yet another set”… I hear you, every new/old revolver, but for me, they do work.

Heat blue them.
