I have a 62 cal Danny Caywood North West trade gun. It shoots really well for me with 80 grains of 3F and a bare .600 ball sitting directly on top of the powder charge, with a 1" square piece of 100% wool blanket to hold it in place. What I enjoy most about my smoothbore is the super easy loading. I had my fill of ball starters and ramming tightly patched roundballs down the muzzle of my rifle.

My 16 (.653) gauge likes 70 grns ffg Goex , a .642 self poured roundball.
Topped off with a damp 1/2” fiber wad for daily shooting or pre dampened wad with olive oil for hunting.
Where did you find the.642 mold? The closest I’ve ever found is a .620

I’m pretty sure it came from Tanner molds.. It’s brass.
Rush Creek sells a .648 round ball , 25 too the bag.
