Going to buy a TOW Tulle Kit soon. I have always primed my Virginia from my horn with 3f. It has a 1/16 hole and lets off very fast. With this 20 ga. I will more than likely load with 2f. If I choose to prime from my horn with 2f, what would be the best size for optimum ignition. Is it something I should work up for this particular smoothbore? Any thoughts appreciated.

I'd do like Rebel says. Start at 1/16" and if need be 5/64". But be careful about going bigger than that. You might decide to stick with fffg and a touchhole bigger than 5/64" will probably allow some of the powder to be blown through when you ram the charge.

I think I would try the fffg first with the smaller hole and if it doesn't suit ye, waller the hole out to 5/64" and try the coarser powder. You can always make the hole bigger.

I have three weapons, 20 ga Homer Dangler fusil, Cabin Creek York .50, and a Lancaster.50. I drilled all to 1/16 and just touched a counterbore on the pan side (all are coned on the inside. The ignition is uniformly quick on all three, to the point where experienced flintolck shooters remark on it. Hope this helps, ron in SW FL
