Touchhole liner

I've been thinking about putting a touchhole liner in my flinter. I installed the barrel a tiny bit too far forward so the touchhole is right against the breechplug so part of the liner would be against the threads of the breechplug. Will this cause a problem or should I just forget it?

If ignition is good theres no sense to create a headache.

Totally agree. Unfortunately ignition hasn't been so good lately. I built the gun in 1981 and it worked great until it didn't. Trying to figure what went wrong without pulling the breech plug. I put it is so I know I can get it out at least.

Have you "scraped" the breech plug? Fouling could have built up over time that would partially plug the vent hole.

You can still install a liner. You’ll need to file a half cone in the breechplug face. If you get it nice and smooth then vent gasses blow it clean with every shot.
