I have one --actually 2 of these and have exactly the same problem-- I have used the lead liners around the flint, ordered new flints, put the frizzen in the oven, etc-- nothing-- I have sent a PM to Wick and hope he can help me!!

I had a pair of them. I finally got them shooting but it took a new frizzen and mainspring for one of them and lot of futzing around with the lock on the other. Then I redid the stocks and got rid of some of the excess wood.

They can be made to shoot but they are better used by someone who just wants one to wear with their Pyrate outfit.

No matter what the problem is, i think you will be impressed with Wick's work. He work on my tower flintlock a month or so ago. Works great now!

I was thinking of converting mine to percussion. The strike geometry is rather frustrating on those Towers. A new mainspring sparked some life into it but after awhile the samo-samo. Then I sold it. Still it would be neat to convert a big .69 cal pistol to percussion. I had a problem hunting for the right size hammer that would line up for a conversion. I often thought the Springfield rifle hammer would work. Never got to test my theory.
