I'm looking for a period smooth bore to use for up land game and Turkey. I would purchase a French Type D but can't get it larger than 20 ga. or if I can find a gun in 11-12 ga. it has a barrel longer than I want.

Looking today on North Star West's web site and the Early English seems to fit what I want. I would wheter have an English than a French type and this gun can be made in 16 ga. and with a 36" barrel.

Anyone have this Trade rifle? Your thoughts please on the quality etc.

Thanks,

Welchman

check with ...caywoodguns.com He'll build you a nice English sporting fowler at a reasonable price. You can get it in the white also. 95% complete. Reasonable pricing. Others you might also look at is..L.E.Williams and Jacky Brown. I've had all their smoothies and of best quality and workmanship.

You can get a Bess carbine with a 30 1/2" barrel from Middlesex Village Trading Co., Military Heritage, Loyalist, or Pedersoli.
