Anyone new, that have bought a Trapper? And what do you think about it? Maybe a 45 cal.

I have a Trapper. They're only available in .50 in the states. I wish they'd send the other models here.

It's a surprisingly good shooter! It will shoot right along with my T/C Patriot, but has a better trigger and is easier to shoot. It doesn't have the natural pointability that the Patriot does or fit the hand as well, and it's more muzzle heavy. That makes it a bit more stable to hold on target though. All in all, I am really impressed with the Trapper and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, especially as a target gun.

hello Plink. I realy like this american forum. nice and gentle. stright answer. Best regards. Tommy.

Thanks Tommy. I like that we have members from all over the world. It expands our knowledge base and experiences, and makes us feel like one giant family!

I also have Traditions Trapper, it is a good shooter, but would be interested in what loads others use. I was also wondering if anyone has dressed theirs up a bit (if so pictures please). I browned the barrel of mine with LM, turned out O.K. but thinking of redoing with antique blueing, a pewter grip cap maybe.

I shoot 15 gr of 3F and a home cast ball (.492 mic'd) wrapped in a .015 patch (mic'd) and get repeatable groups of 3 inches at 25 yards consistantly.
at 35 yds, it opens to about 4 inches.
adjust your trigger and find a grip that works for you and doesnt push the barrel left or right!

I run 25 grains of FFFG under a .490 ball with .015 patching. I still have the occasional frayed patch, so I'm going to try a smaller ball/thicker patch combo. It didn't shoot as well with a lesser charge, so I'm hoping a thicker patch will work. It's a tack driver though, when I do my part. The grip shape takes some learning.

I haven't really fancied mine up yet. I am going to redo it when I have the time. A nice rust blue and perhaps an attempt at some wirework is in it's future. I originally bought it as a woodcarving project, but I never got around to it so I finally just assembled it to shoot.

mine is deadly with 25 grns of ffg. with fffg it was not accurate and burned patches. it has a great adjustable trigger. i use .015 patches with wonder lube and a .490 ball. I have shot the patriot which is a great pistol. i will put the traditions against them any day. its a great pistol which will shoot very small groups..songdog
