Traditional leatherwork decoration

Hi all, I'm working on a knife sheath and want to embellish it a little bit and was wondering if anyone had any resources I could look at for simple traditional designs. I am looking for something appropriate for a british colonist in the 1750s, I was thinking perhaps a Yorkshire rose which is both simple and traditional but possibly not appropriate to the period. Any ideas?

Well, there weren't a lot websites of any kind 1750. :haha:

Best thing I can come up with is to check out decorations on furniture, silverware, guns and such. This could at least give you a place to start for what was popular at the time.
