Traditions Blunderbuss Kit?

The funnel front was for loading on a moving platform such as a horse or wagon being pulled by same or oxen. It was pointed not aimed as most smoothbores with shot was.

It is cool, flintlock would be more correct IMHO but who knows. Blunderbusses draw big money for original and most are flintlock.

I say go for it and screw whoever don't like it. I get a big crowd on the range when I shoot my flintlock with a cannon muzzle every time. [gee it may have been made in India but Who cares]

Im thinking about getting a Tradtions’s Blunderbuss kit as just a cheap thing to have fun building.

Cheap enough and while it looks kind of cartoonish compared to a real Blunderbuss, I find it interesting and cool looking. Thoughts?

I agree, it's kind of strange that it doesn't come equipped with a ram rod but, a length of 1/2" or bigger dowel from the local hardware store ought to work for stuffing things down the bore.

That wasn’t advice, I said that would be “my choice”.

In reality, you couldn’t give me one of them.....

Unless it came with a hacksaw.
Then I could make a nice funnel out of the barrel , that’s about
the only way I could use one of them.

In fact, a lot of blunderbusses used in folk marches do not have a ramrod because only powder is introduced.Shooting in the public with a wad is too dangerous.
I prefer this kind of barrel as on my own blunderbuss.

its a do your own thing kind of game.....personally its not my thing. At .54 cal, it really would do anything that a blunderbuss does.... they are very large bore to hold alot of shot. the traditions wont hold hardly anythging. but if all you want to do is shoot balloons...i guess its pretty good

Smokey Plainsman, if you want it get it. If I had the funds, I would certainly buy one. It's fine for what it is, and I'm sure it could be a ton of fun!!! So if you want it, don't hold back on buying it. Have fun!!!

Do it. The parts would cost more than the kit and you can do whatever you want to the stock before finishing it. Take some wood off the stock and antique it a little and everyone will want to shoot it.

I’ve had my share of fantasy guns, if’n You want it get it and have fun with it. It ain’t a blunderbuss but if your not trying to get in to a juried event have fun.... have too much fun that’s ok.
Just a question, would a ‘real’blunderbuss kit be much more expensive?

Yes. Fox has Blunderbuss kits and they start at over $1,000. Heritage Firearms has Blunderbuss' from India. They are about $550.00.
