Hello fellas, Its me again the rookie with the project gun. It seems CVA has shifted gears and does not sell traditional sidelocks any more, at least thats my impression from looking at there website. Y'all have helped me out so far so here I go again. I have spent hours looking for a new frizzen for my CVA plainsman. Do you think I might be able to swap it out with a hawkins frizzen, either from CVA or traditions?

A Traditions frizzen may fit it. You can order one here

To answer my own questions I've done it all. I resurfaced the damaged frizzen and did my best to reharden it. It throws plenty of spark, hot, and into the pan. I purchased a traditions frizzen just to see if its possible to swap parts. I have also finally been able to contact CVA and ordered the original. there prices are pretty reasonable. I will post the results of the parts swap just fot fun.

Thanks, Its not often I get to tinker around with gun powder. so far blaks are a blast, now I need to see what i can do at the range. I have a feeling adding lead will change things.

Matt,

Deer Creek Products 765-525-6181 carries a lot of the old CVA parts. I've heard that they have the equipment/rights to re-produce the parts or just bought out all the surplus lots. Either way though they have always had whatever I've needed to re-furb CVA guns.
