Hey guys, had to pull the barrel on my Traditions Kentucky pistol to replace the front sight. When I took out all the screws, a thin metal spring fell out from someplace when I pulled the barrel and stock apart. The barrel and stock were a tight fit so I did not get to pull it apart slowly to get a look at things before they came apart.......So HELP! Can anyone tell me where the spring came from. It is thin flat metal a little over 1/4 inch wide has a loop on one end and a half loop on the other. It is in the shape of a wide V or maybe a smile (like the one after my name without the head and eyes) would be a better way to describe it.......Any pictures anyplace to show where the spring goes? Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.........Harold :hatsoff: :)

MY WAG is that it is the ramrod retaining spring; probably held in place with one of the barrel pins. Can you maybe see a mark on the inside of the barrel channel where it may have been fit? Emery

I found it, on the Traditions Trapper pistol schematic....it is the ramrod spring....not shown on the Kentucky pistol breakdown.......DUH...thanks again for looking......Harold

New gun, there weren't any marks....thanks for your offer of help, that is why I joined this forum.....lots of good knowledge I can tap into.......

My first BP ever was a Kentucky pistol from a kit. It is a great shooter. The kit took a little fine tuning to get it just right, but I was very happy with the results and I get lots of comments at the range with it. Glad you got the spring figured out.

Enjoy

my first was a kentucky kit also. It turned out real nice. I took it out shooting and found a
1/8 inch steel sign in the woods right bside a tram road. I shot it at 20 yards with 20 grains FFF and the ball went right thru! Very impressed!
