Judging from some of your posts, you all are far more advanced than I. I received a Traditions Rifle kit from my wife, my first attempt at building a gun. All is going very well, but the trigger has a huge amount of take-up (travel) before it hits the sear. Anyone else have this problem? Solutions? I should note this gun will be more of a mantel piece than a shooter, but I hate the rattling and feel of a trigger with that much free travel. Thanks.

You may want to order a replacement trigger from CVA. Their triggers now come with a spring to keep the trigger up touching the sear. It stops the rattling. Not the most elegant answer, but a relatively cheap fix if it fits.

I'm far from a gunsmith, but I think you can remove the trigger and braze/weld a bead across the top of the trigger. Then grind it to fit to your sear properly.
