I bought a Traditions Trapper percussion 50 cal pistol that is missing the front sight blade.

I would really appreciate if somebody who has a trapper could tell me:

The height of the brass blade above the dovetail sight block?
The length of the blade and
The thickness of the blade

Many thanks

First dovetail block extends above barrel flat .0715"
sight is mounted into that extended block and is .0125" above barrel flat to bottom of brass sight the .
.0125" sits in block to hold sight
sight is 1.10" long back to front and tapers back to front in an arch rounded at front end
sight measured .0125" above barrel at rear .3460"
front measured .0125" above barrel .09" closest to tapered end at front overall height
thickness of blade is .0635"

call Traditions give them barrel serial number you can order one
also thegunworks.com has similar style front sights

Too tall could always be filed down. Especially if you wanted to change the back sight to a more PC fixed type. I think about this as I have two CVA Mountain Pistols, one each .45 & .50. The .45 has a fixed rear and the .50 an adjustable. I shoot them equally well and kinda wish they were both fixed just cuz. I have bought front sights from TOW, and there is always something else to get to make the order worth while.

Many thanks Colimr, that is exactly the information I needed. Traditions have the sight blade on back order and, as I have lots of bits of flat brass stock handy from model making, I figured I would just make a copy of the original with my “Chinese milling machine“ - file 🥴
