Transporting long guns

I'm buying a fusil which has an OAL length just shy of 58".

This will not fit in any of my soft or hard cases. What do people here do for transporting their long guns?

I use a soft case made from fleece. Simply fold over and sew. Then turn sewn side in. Works quite well. Softer and slightly more protective than canvas ones. Make it long enough to fold the end over with a tie.

Similar to Mzzldrinpa, I made a fleece lined oil cloth soft case.

Bought a 72” gun sock from Dillon. Also have an elk hide case and a canvas case

My longest rifles are 38" and not that tough to find suitable soft cases. Also had a friend make me one out of thick camo flannel.

Silicone-treated gunsocks from Midway. Old-school naugahyde gunsocks as well sometimes. Gunsocks are longer than the gun, fold over and ties the strings. Even a caveman can do it.

All mine are in wool gun socks. I also have a Unique soft case that is padded if the gun goes into the bed of the truck for protection. They offer many different size cases and are well worth the money. Almost forgot, they also have a pocket to hold a range rod.

My pop’s .69 Springfield musket lives in a canvas bag made for it, while not being shot or carried.

I have one soft case from Unique Cases -got it in the longest length to be able to transport anything I may need to the range or field. Highly recommend Unique -may not be HC, but good protection, function and price.
Like many others, I use silicone gun socks (Midway USA has a 72" length and Allen has a 66") to keep them from bumping together in storage.

I use Ace Cases padded musket cases. They are longer than the regular cases. We have piled 15 rifles on each other in the back floor of my truck with no damage. They are string tie, 63" long, and padded. $10.50 each

I do the same but incorporate an outside layer of a more durable material such as pillow ticking, canvas, or upholstery material.

My Virginia rifle is 58" too, I bought a soft case from Unique Cases. Very nice soft case with a pouch for the range rod. They are available in several lengths.

I carry my musket in this case, plenty of room and protection.

I use some leather cases that were made at home. Put together just for my long rifles. They fit nicely in the bed of the pickup truck. I haven't figured out a way to safely carry them on the motorcycle yet.
