Hello all

Just put together a Traditions Trappers pistol kit. I feel some what mechanically inclined, But it was trickier than I thought it would be. Anyhow that makes me want to shoot it all the more.My first black powder gun, was it a good choice?

I don't have a Trapper but from what I read on this forum it is a good gun. The important point is that it sounds like you learned something and enjoyed building the gun so if your are happy than it is the right gun for you. Weclome BP shooting. You'll have a great time shooting your pistol.

Welcome to the forum. You allways remember your first one :winking: !I Don't have a trapper pistol, but looking at the kit on the The Possible Shop website it reminds me of the Old CVA Hawkens Pistol. The difference is the CVA had a single trigger(with smaller trigger guard),beech wood stock and a funky rear site.Sound like you will enjoy your pistol and looks like a improvement over the CVA.I am looking forward to your Loading/Shooting Data report. :)

Good gun. Take a close look at the ramrod, that seems to be the weakest part. I replaced mine with a split hickory rod. Enjoy it, these guns can be real tack drivers. Oh, and take that hollow brass buttcap off and fill it with melted lead. I find it improves the balance. I think mine held about 400 grains worth.

I'm green with envy, not having one myself {yet}. As far as good or not goes, if it is your first it might well be your favorite for a long long time. Enjoy it BB
