OK, here goes: Travellers sent 6 lbs of BP to me on Monday. FEDEX notified me it would be here in FL on thursday between 12 and 4. They were here Thursday at 1:15 but I wasn't. They left a note saying they would deliver on Friday. Today, they came at 2:45, I signed, I got my powder.
Am I an aberration???? There are hundreds of thousands of FEDEX deliveries, whose to say what is normal or not in these times.....I haven't had issues with FEDEX. Maybe I live in a populated area with paved streets and house numbers prominent displayed.....( I apologize...my city bred brain is showing)

I had no issues with my powder and caps order. 6 lbs Powder and 1000 RWS caps ordered in Sunday and arrived today.

Instead of pounding FedEx ..pound your US Representative and Senator for Regulatory/ICC REGS
There are regs that LIMIT the number of pounds of EACH classification of hazmat items that can be on a truck..in a terminal ..
or on a delivery
I DO NOT THINK FedEx is so stupid as to send a hazmat shipment 475 miles the wrong direction ..
I think their system told them to reduce YOUR terminal"s hazmat poundage so they put it in storage by way of a side trip ..
Because there were OTHER hazmats shipments older than your powder shipment whose turn it was to finally get delivered
WE ...ME INCLUDED ..are really fortunate to have a carrier that is willing to cope with the government regs ..
The gyrations they do to stay legal with the Fed's versus the hazmat fee they charge I would wager is not a profit center for them

I got my powder delivery, great job by travellers. Excellent service.
I personally don't care how long it takes for FedEx to get me a package. My complaint is them sending me an email telling me my item is out for delivery and requires me to be home to sign for it, but not showing up. I've had it happen 3 days in a row and finally on day 4 they show up. Usually happens 2 out of 3 times. Then again, I live in the sticks, get quite a bit of signature required deliveries and have terrible luck. Just the way it is. Still happy not to have to drive all the way to Texas.

I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex on a city street with prominent house numbers on the house and the curb. I have had literally dozens of packages delivered from the USPS, UPS and FedEx. Disregarding the USPS because it is what it is, FedEx is by far the worst.
Got a 20 gallon aquarium delivered by FedEx two weeks ago to my front porch. As soon as I moved the box inside I knew it was broken due to glass trailing out of the package. We then found a small pile of glass on the curb where the driver must have dropped it. There is no way that he did not know he shattered something inside when he dropped it yet the box was left on my porch with no knock or doorbell, while I was home. They are definitely the worst. 😡

What I have found, if you usually have the same Fred/Ex driver is to talk to him or her and work something out to placement, signature, etc. of your items. Most of them get paid by package delivered, and as soon as they deliver that package it's time and money to them. Every time they try and re-deliver.....................
I have my driver just place my items behind the gate out of sight. He will do that AND throw it in a plastic bag just in case of weather, he's happy to get rid of it.

Up here in upstate NY, USPS does the best followed closely by UPS. Now I know USPS can’t deliver powder but I thought UPS could…
Oh and , the fedex driver did not ask for a signature, he just punched in my last name, so much for signature required..

I'm gonna regret this, I'm sure. But I just can't help myself. Do people really believe FedEx has a vendetta against shooters specifically, that they would raise prices for the specific reason of making it harder for us to shoot?

I know there's no shortage of folks who would love to see our sport disappear, and perhaps a couple of them are high enough in FedEx's corporate price-setting structure to have some influence. But I guess I have a hard time believing that we - and the blackpowder shooting community in particular - rate high enough in visibility for that to be a thought that crosses their minds (i.e., FedEx exec says maniacally, "We'll put an end to that! Triple the hazmat fees!!!").

Is it not more likely it's a combination of lawyers and salesmen trying to balance out how to make the most money and reduce liability without writing off a customer base entirely?

Ok. Let the roasting begin....

What does this have to do with the OP's QUESTION?

Geez.

What does this have to do with the OP's QUESTION?

Geez.
Nothing, I fully admit. But then, I'm not sure how much other comments about FedEx's motives have in common with the OP either. He simply asked where Travellers was a reputable place to buy (it's great).

There is something up with All delivery companies these days, my guess is the "employee shortage/new employee" dilemma effecting all businesses since summer of 2020.
Had issues now and then before, but have issues almost always now.

I tracked a delivery of powder that went through Sacramento, CA then for unknown reason went Back to Sacramento, next day left Sacramento for Sparks, NV then simply vanished for another day, then was "Out for Delivey" then was "Arrived at Sparks"?? Then was "Delivery Attempted, note left on door"?? No note on my door?!?! So I called and they said the didnt know but drive "did leave a note"...I explained they Left NO Note and I AM home. They told me "Next attempt will be Tues" (FedEx dont deliver on Sunday and holiday....but next day, Sunday, there was a knock on the door, powder left, No Signature???? Well, it came at least.

Then USPS was supposed to deliver a gift to my daughter in San Fernando Valley (California) - all other gifts sent arrived, we found her's was sitting at International Distribution Center in Los Angeles...for Four days!
Again I had to call..."Why is it at International, it's only going an hours drive away Local??", she took my info and next next day it was Out for Delivery...BUT, then it was listed as "Delivery Unable, No Access"??? Called my daughter and she was confused...next day it arrived on her poarch.

Supply Chain Crisis

p.s. edit- just received another email now saying the powder was manufactured in 2016, so at least that question has now been answered.
Again, yes I'm new and wet behind the ears. Now I know to ask more questions before buying.

Well, dang. After the posts above I looked at my Travelers powder and see that it too is 2016 powder and I just received it a couple of months back. There I was all fat and happy not knowing I had bought 6 year old powder and now since finding out, well I am still fat, and still happy. I have powder a lot older than 2016 and it is all fine.

Yes, agreed. Black powder, properly stored can be good for decades, that being said, I'll ask how old it is next time before buying.
Like I said, I'm still wet behind the ears and am learning, sometimes by mistakes like this.

I hope whatever was causing angry guy to be angry subsides and he can go back to a happier life. I don't believe the scale of his reaction could have been caused by only me asking the true date of manufacture.

I bought this from a buddy maybe 10 years ago. It was sealed in a clear plastic wrap. He didn’t know anything about it. Did this brand come in sealed plastic? Maybe you of you fine members will recognize it and can chime in.
Ok, the point is I finally decided to use it instead of breaking into my new powder. It shoots as good as the day it was made!
