Russ, we have a lot of Grey Squirrels around here, but i have never shot one, YET. I plan to try to get some this year if possible. I have never eaten them, but after hearing everyone here talk about how good they are, i may have to give them a try. Have eaten lots of rabbits, both cottontail and jackrabbits. Squirrel can't be a whole lot different.

Ooops!... :master: :master:
I guess I was mistaken in who had told me that. I'm sure someone from around that area once asked the question of why the squirrels would be any different in a 500 mile radius, as the ones they were getting tasted great. ::

I guess it's that CRS kicking in again!

No problemo. If the meat were as tough as their skins, they would be impossible to eat. Kinda like what i hear about these Wild Turkeys around here. Everyone says that if Goodyear could figure out a way to use the leg meat on their tires, they would last forever.

Here in Arizona I hunt squirrels on the Muggyown Rim country in October-November. Season usually starts around the 2nd weekend in October and runs to the Thursday before Elk season starts. I use my .32 or .36. There are a lot of squirrels in the Bradshaw Mountains just north of Phoenix but you have to comb the tree huggers and animal lovers out of your hair before you can take a shot. That is also one of our Muzzle loader only deer areas but I have seen people back in the woods with canned air horns....I have seen lots of squirrels in the Grand Canyon area but that is all National Park, ie..NO HUNTING. Wish I could hunt more. Not much beats sitting under a tall pine tree playing with a squirrel call.
