on my .50 traditions kentucky kit rifle the trigger has about a 1/4" of play that rattles when moved. is there any way to silence this?

From a nice neat spring, or removing the slop by better fitting to a quick & dirty: poke a piece of soft foam into the slot ahead of the trigger.

What's the traditional way? I'm curious.

Fit is traditional.

If me, I would hard solder a piece of same thickness (with more height than required) stock onto top of trigger bar, then file to correct height.

[/quote]I did something similar to my CVA Kentucky pistol , with JB weld . I built it up about 1/4" higher with the JB weld and then filed it down until it worked correctly . I've shot it over 100 times since then , and it's still holding .
