Thing is depending on where you live, it is, always readily available or easy to obtain. Allot of people that can get it easy don't seem to understand that. Don't get me wrong, I am all for using real black but I've been places it is difficult to near impossible to get.

I know of only one shop near me that carries real black, and it's standard GOEX. Fine if that's all you need, but i wanted to try some Old E for an unmentionable buffalo gun, so mail-order it is. I think it was still cheaper per pound to order online, even with shipping and hazmat than buying a pound of a sub.

I have used Pyrodex both as a main charge and in the Pan. I grind small amounts for the pan as a primer. It is rare that the gun does not fire. When it does not its usually a dirty touch hole. I simply cannot understand what all the hooplah is about.....
And yes Pyrodex does get poured down the muzzle also......
When and if BP disappears and youre ready to quit I will buy your stuff and use Pyrodex in it.🤣
Is this true? Could you elaborate more on what you did? Finding black powder where I live is proving next to impossible!

I use Tripple 7 for shooting blanks only, it’s much cleaner than BP or Pyrodex.

I don’t shoot with Tripple 7, in a flintlock it’s just too slow to ignite, Pyrodex can work.

If you wet pyrodex with a little alcohol and then stir it and let it air dry it will lose some of the additives that bind it up, then it works much faster. However I don’t practice this anymore, it’s just not a good product for a flintlock.
