Finally got the work bench cleared off enough to get a few pics of the Track Tulle kit im building. Have the barrel and tang inletted and the trigger assembled and inlet. Lock is inletted and reworked to resemble the photos in the Tulle book.
Any suggestions would be apprecieated. Now working on the butt plate.

That's what they're there for.
Just as a guide, the wrist's smallest point is right before the comb. It is 1 3/8" and is round in cross section. All the carving that comes on the kit will be gone if the kit is shaped correctly. I put the relief carving back on after all the wood was removed. Make sure to expose more than 1/2 of the barrel above the wood line. The upper forestock should have no more than 1/16" wood on either side of the barrel and the lower forestock should have no more than 1/8". These things will make the stock look slim and racey, like the originals were. I also tried to take some of the severe hump off the top of the buttstock too.
I cut the side plate out of sheet stock. The one they send anong with the kit is incorrect. The way I attacthed the trigger guard is incorrect. It should have two screws in the grip rail and one screw in the forward finial.
Have fun with the butplate....I mangled the first one beyond repair. I had to order another and it went on fine as I didn't try to bend it to my will. :surrender:
This is a good kit, and it goes together well in my opinion.
There are a couple things I didn't care for. The sideplate , which I already mentioned. I don't care for the trigger araingement either, I much prefer to pin my trigger in the wood. I can get better leverage. This one turned out fine though, after tweaking the lock a bit I got a fine let off.
Speaking of the lock, I still don't care for that particular lock. I know others love them, but I've been spoiled by Chambers products.
Not to say RE Davis doen't make good locks, I highly praise some of their other locks....It's just this model in particular....

well captgary, mike, you've succeeded in depressin me! i got a builder puttin one of them together for me,only with a rifled barrel,,and he said 3 MONTHS! mike b's is probably done now,and capt's is way ahead! gees i hope this guy was funnin me! nice work guys! It's not so much the time it takes to do the gun, but how many people the maker has waiting in line.

DER FETT'... yep, realize that...think the guys playin with my head..he has that "sense of humor thing" ha ha! hopin it's sooner but...like he said, he'd rather tell me 3 months and have it in 2 than say two and have it in 3...course first he said 6! :shocked2: guess 3 sounded real good after that! plus it's a lil more than jus puttin a "kit" together.. it's a 44 inch barrel, and he's shorten it to 41,and reshaping the nose to fit,,so..i'll wait! (like i got a choice?) :winking: RC

It looks good to me, the lock modifications are nice, hey Mike, what kit did you get? the 44" barrel kit has a steel sideplate just like one in Bouchards book, which one did your kit have?

This was the 44" barrel kit. It had the sideplate that has the curly Q's on the back end.

Thanks Mike, I may have ordered a different plate than what was in the package, been more than a day ago so I don't remember...

The sideplate to which Mike refers is shown in Hamilton,{1980 P.60} and was found on a left handed{the only one known at that time}Fusil fin in Alabama.I know of a Tulle buccaneer with that sideplate but I don't know whether it is scaled up in size or not.I have never thought it appropriate for a common Fusil de chasse but rather doubt it.I totally agree with Mike on the slimming down of the forestock. My Fusil fins{Liegeoise} have very slim forestocks especially from the rear pipe on out.

I see which one it is, I used the Tulle-2-1 from TOW...all the furniture that I used is like that shown on pg 33 of Bouchards book
