I'am new to the forum and i'am wanting smoothbore and i found a supplier of Indian Guns called Middlesex Village Trading that seams to be reputable by their website.

hi bert,

welcome abord!

if you're looking for informations on "india made" muzzleloaders, i would suggest to use the search engine of this forum.

there are a lot of information for you to read i am sure.

and when your gun comes in, we're all looking for pictures...

all the best,
ike

This is a scam. It is being misrepresented. It is an indian copy and not a good one. The only custum work are the incorrect sights bubba the ham handed gunsmith "installed".

I called the ark. st. muzzleloading ass. spoke to the sect. said he heard and knew nothing about the gun. from comparing it to other tulles from that sell india guns it looks more finally finished. no varnish, sharp lines . if it is india made someone went over it. I called ed ryal and he is going to look at it and see if he can give any info

The current price is already too high in my opinion at $402.11. It is Indian made and has an extremely poor grain flow through the wrist. As-is, no refund or exchange! :shake: :td:

I have been looking for a 2nd. hand early Chevy Vega and I'll bet this guy has a pristine one he'll sell me. :rotf:

Why would I come away from viewing his listing thinking this guy is full of organic fertilizer? :hmm:

message sent to seller: sir, that was not made for the Arkansas muzzleloadingg club, it is not a rayl barrel. I spoke to both parties. mr. rayl states it is 100 per cent reworked and refinished india made gun. whoever sold it to you or you are selling for has defrauded you. I send this so you can clear the air. and not be accused of fraud. it is worth no more than :idunno: 450 being used.
I have 45 years in muzzle loading behind me.

The seller has updated the listing, saying to ignore the prior additions. At least he has tried to correct the add. What ya bet the gun goes for over $500. As P.T. Barnum said...
More information on the Gun: please disregard the previous text additions to this add... The Gun was offered in fundraising raffle and won by it's previous owner. It is a Tulle replica .62 cal smoothbore/ or 20ga. French Fusil de Chasse. It has no custom work by persons in AR, gun was ordered new in this configuration. I personally spoke to the gentleman that ordered it. Thank You, hope this helps.

I thought it was pretty decent looking for a India gun, maybe the best I have seen.... for a India gun.

To give the seller the benefit of the doubt, IMHO I do not think they were trying to defraud. It looks like they were just ignorant on these guns and were passing along info from others equally ignorant or mistaken

Last time I looked this was at $650 with a few days to go. Go figure...
Yeah, saw that too. I'm considering posting a couple of bridges for sale on that site, maybe some Arizona oceanfront property......

FWIW I've seen and held the import alleged Fusil de Chasses firsthand and like all other imports, they are clunky with TOO MUCH wood!

Any yet, the metal has been polished so bright as to look like it's chromed! To me, they must pay the polishers 1/10th the pay of an inletter or carver ... as if they even put 1/3rd more effort into the wood work, then they might just have something.

Has anyone actually seen or held an original FDC? The India guns bear little or no resemblance to one. The differences are so many. The India guns are what they are,a low end gun.I will refrain from comments regarding swine and make up.
I'm just being honest...........

Alex, you and I have had this conversation several times since you started building these guns and I have marveled at the progress you have made especially in the pied de vache butt architecture.Fusils de chasse may vary and do so. This is true among the three with which I am most familiar but there is no mistaking as to what they are. Conversely when one looks at the pictures of most of the various copies especially the Indian guns it becomes painfully obvious as to what they AREN'T.
I am really looking forward to seeing a particularly fine de chasse which I have heard of and which has recently surfaced.
Remember too that these Tulle and St.Etienne guns were NOT mass produced and will vary somewhat particularly in their architecture. This is very evident in the pied de vache butt architecture of the three Tulles to which I referred earlier and especially so in my two guns. This individualistic flavor is what has set your guns apart and I have seen a great improvement in them.My bill will of course follow.
Oddly enough I have always felt that the Centermark de chasses with some tweaking would be preferable to some of the Indian guns. Iron mounts and the substitution of a correct sideplate and some judicious wood removal would help. The length and thickness of the barrel wall probably can't be corrected but a good overall tweaking by a good workman would go a long way and one of our mutual friends has done so.
